Sabrina Coffman Earns Medalist Honors at EKU Colonel Classic

Richmond, KY-Sabrina Coffman closed with an even par round of 72 to take home medalist honors at the EKU Colonel Classic. The win is Coffman's first of the season as she bested a field of 93 players in one of the strongest competitions the Vikings have played in all season.

Coffman started the day at 1-over and bogeyed her first hole of the day, the 12th, but strung together seven consecutive pars to remain at 2-over for the tournament. She recorded back-to-back birdies on the second and third holes to move to even par and into a tie for first place.

Coffman continued her steady play with another run of seven straight pars and a bogey save at the 11th, her final hole of the day, was good enough to bring home the title.

She exceled on the par 3's, leading the field with a 2.67 scoring average. Coffman finished 4-under on the par 3 holes for the three rounds. She made 10 birdies overall which was tied for the second most in the field.

Cleveland State finished 14th overall in the team race with a cumulative score of 60-over par. Lexi Knight finished tied for 49th at 14-over par. Mandie Ruminski closed with a 78 to finish at 21-over par through 54 holes.

Olivia Swain and Brynna Mardis each finished in a tie for 87th place at 26-over par.

Cleveland State returns to the course on Friday for a one-day competition at the YSU Invitational hosted by Youngstown State.
