Coffman Tied for Third, Cleveland State Women’s Golf in 14th after Day One at EKU Colonel Classic

Richmond, KY-Sabrina Coffman got off to a great start on the first day of the EKU Colonel Classic, and the Cleveland State women's golf team finished in 14th place in the team race through 36 holes. The Vikings finished at 43-over par after two rounds at the University Club at Arlington. 

Coffman is tied for third at 1-over par through 36 holes. She is three shots back of the lead which stands at 2-under and is shared by Ruth Toennessen of Morehead State and Austin Peay's Taylor Deadmen. Coffman carded a 73 in the morning round and followed it up with an even par 72 in the afternoon. 

Coffman finished the day with eight birdies which was the second most of any player in the field. She carded four birdies in each round. Six of her eight came on the front side where she finished in red figures in both rounds. Coffman carded a 1-under 34 on the front nine in the opening round and improved on that total finishing at 2-under 33 in the afternoon round. 

Lexi Knight was close behind Coffman with seven birdies on her card through 36 holes. Knight sits in a tie for 53rd place at 10-over par after posting rounds of 79-75. 

Brynna Mardis is tied for 83rd place at 16-over par. Mandie Ruminski and Olivia Swain are both tied for 86th one shot back at 17-over. 

The third and final round is scheduled for a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow. Coffman begins her day on the 12th hole. Fans can follow along on Golfstat for live results throughout the day.
