Cleveland State Women’s Golf in Fifth Place after Round One of Nevel Meade Collegiate

Prospect, KY-The Cleveland State women's golf team sits in fifth place after round one at the Nevel Meade Collegiate at Nevel Meade Golf Club. Conditions were cold but the sun was shining on day one. The first day was shortened to 18 holes due to the cold weather. 

Cleveland State carded a 26-over par 314 in round one. Central Michigan leads the 13-team field with a 9-over total of 297. 

Individually, Sabrina Coffman and Mandie Ruminski are each tied for 10th after firing matching scores of 76 (+4). Coffman was steady, carding eight pars and a bogey on the front nine for a 37. She closed with a three-over 39 on the back.

Ruminski carded identical scores to Coffman on the front and back nines but used three birdies to balance out a double and five bogeys in shooting 76. Ruminski's three birdies were tied for the second most of any player in the field. Two of those birdies came on par 5's, which she played in two under for the round.

Lexi Knight is tied for 22nd after a 6-over 78. In addition, Brynna Mardis is tied for 55th after shooting 12-over par 84, and Olivia Swain is tied for 64th after finishing with a 14-over par total of 86. Abby Blackburn, competing as an individual, is tied for 75th after a 19-over par round of 91.

The tournament concludes with the second round tomorrow which is scheduled for an 11 a.m. shotgun start. Fans can follow along on Golfstat for live scoring throughout the day.
