Cleveland State Women’s Golf Finishes Fifth in Season Opening Tournament

Orlando, FL-The Cleveland State Women's Golf team carded a second consecutive cumulative score of 318 (+30) to finish in fifth place in the Motor City Classic. The Vikings finished with a three-day total of 957 (+93). Oakland won the tournament with a total of 917 through 54 holes. 

Individually, Sabrina Coffman and Mandie Ruminski both finished tied for 11th place overall with matching scores of 19 over par. Coffman closed with a 10-over 82, while Ruminski carded a 7-over 79. 

Ruminski was consistent throughout the tournament, finishing with scores of 78-78-79. She tallied one birdie on the final day which came on the front nine. She went out in 40 and came in with 39. 

Lexi Knight shot the low round of the day for the Vikings, finishing with a 4-over 76. Knight ended the tournament in a tie for 25th place at 27 over par. She was steady in her final 18 holes, finishing with matching nine-hole scores of 38 on both sides, including 14 pars. 

Olivia Swain finished in 29th place at 30 over par. She closed with an 11-over 83 in the final round. Brynna Mardis finished in a tie for 32nd place at 37 over. She posted a 9-over 81 in the final round. 

The Vikings will return to the course in late March when Cleveland State hosts the Nevel Meade Intercollegiate. The Tournament will take place at Nevel Meade Golf Club in Prospect, Kentucky March 20th and 21st.
