Cleveland State Women’s Golf Sixth After Day 1 at Motor City Classic

Orlando, FL-The Cleveland State Women's Golf team sits in sixth place after the first round of the Motor City Classic at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando, FL. The Vikings fired an overall score of 321 (+33) on the day. 

Oakland leads the six-team field at 17-over par after the opening round.   

Sabrina Coffman and Mandie Ruminski each shot 6-over 78 in the first round to finish in a tie for 13th place. Creighton's Eleanor Hudepohl leads the individual race, and is the only player under par through 18 holes, finishing at 1-under 71. 

Coffman carded four birdies on the day and closed with a back nine 38. She finished the round with two birdies in her final four holes to post +6. The four birdies tied for the most made by any player in the opening round. 

Ruminski also had a strong back nine. She closed with a 1-over 37 that included back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13. 

Olivia Swain sits tied for 25th place after a 9-over 81, Lexi Knight is 32nd after a 12-over 84, and Brynna Mardis is tied for 34th place after a 14-over 86. 

Overall, the Vikings made a total of 10 birdies which tied for the most in the field through 18 holes.
