Cleveland State Women’s Golf Finishes 11th in Rocket Classic

Port Clinton, OH-The Cleveland State women's golf team finished in 11th place at the Rocket Classic at Catawba Island Club. The Vikings improved by 18 shots in the third and final round, shooting their lowest score of the tournament. The team finished with a 322(+32) for a cumulative total of 1005(+141).

Rutgers won the tournament with a 910 total, and the Scarlet Knights' Rikke Nordvik won the individual competition with a 6-over par score.

Individually, Sabrina Coffman led the way for Cleveland State, shooting a 6-over 78. Coffman birdied the first hole and added a string of eight consecutive pars on the back nine in carding a 1-over score of 37 on the back. She finished in 32nd place with a three round total of 29 over par. Mandie Ruminski finished close behind, in a tie for 33rd a shot back at 30 over par. Ruminski closed with a 79, her lowest score of the tournament. The round included three birdies, two of which came on the back nine.   

Other Viking competitors include: Olivia Swain(49th place, +40), Lexi Knight(51st, +42), and Abby Blackburn(58th, +82). Brynna Mardis, competing unattached, finished in 53rd place at 45 over par.

The women's golf team will compete next week at the Dayton Flyer Invitational starting Monday, October 17th. This marks the final competition of the fall for the Vikings.
