HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Cleveland State women's golf program tied its tournament-best round to place third overall at the 2022 Horizon League Championships, which finished at the Mission Inn Resort & Club on Tuesday.
The Vikings slotted four student-athletes in the top-13 and all five in the top-34 to post their best finish as a team since CSU took third at the 2019 championship match. For the tournament, Cleveland State knocked down 163 pars (third overall at the event) and 23 birdies (tied for fourth).
Sabrina Coffman improved three spots on Tuesday with a final round of 3-over. She finished the tournament as the lead Viking with a 12-over performance. Coffman tied for third with nine birdies and also recorded 27 pars.
Meg Rossouw (13-over) and Lexi Knight (14-over) came in a tie for 10th and 13th, respectively, after strong closes to the championship. Rossouw leaped up one spot with a final round of 4-over while Knight propelled seven positions with a 3-over showing. Both Rossouw and Knight tied for third at the event with 36 holes of par and also added three birdies.
Madison Butler (14-over) and Olivia Swain (27-over) closed out the scoring for the Vikings. Butler continued her steady play with a final day of six-over while Swain wrapped up the event with a 13-over. Butler was tied for third with 36 pars and also tied for 19th with four birdies.
That concludes the 2021-22 Golf season for the Cleveland State Vikings, one that included the program's first tournament win in six years with a victory at the Nevel Meade Collegiate in late March.
