DAY ONE RESULTS AND DAY TWO LIVE SCORING

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Cleveland State women's golf program ended the opening round of the 2022 Horizon League Championships on a tear as the Vikings moved into a tie for third overall after the first 18 holes of the tournament at the Mission Inn Resort & Club on Sunday. 

Meg Rossouw also placed herself at the top of the individual leaderboard and sits in a tie for second-place after the opening day of play. The Vikes placed three student-athletes in the top-14 and all five in the top-22 of the championship event.

The Vikings made their move over the last five holes of the round to jump into the top-three. CSU recorded a 3-under as a group to close the day over those final five holes to post a 16-over performance (308 strokes). 

Cleveland State is just two strokes back of leader Oakland, who sits at 14-over.

On the individual side, Rossouw paced the group at 1-over. She finished with two birdies (tied for fifth at the tourney after day one) and 13 pars (tied for fourth). 

Madison Butler was right behind in a tie for seventh with a 3-over performance. She had three birdies and 10 holes of par, including a run of three straight birdies between holes No. 13-15.

Olivia Swain was next in a tie for fourteenth at 5-over. She ended her round with back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18. 

Sabrina Coffman and Lexi Knight rounded out the CSU attack in a tie for 22nd with 7-over showings. 

As a group, the Vikes knocked in 54 pars (third in the tournament) and nine birdies (also third).
