Knight’s Ninth Place Finish Leads Vikings to Third Place at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio -- Junior Lexi Knight shot a career-low round of 73 on day two and finished tied for 9th overall to lead the Cleveland State women's golf team on the final day of the Dayton Flyer Invitational on Tuesday on the NCR Country Club North Course.

TOURNAMENT RECAP
With rounds of 76 and 73, Knight finished the tournament tied in 9th in the standings. Her second round included one birdie on hole seven and thirteen pars.

Meg Rossouw and Madison Butler also earned top-20 finishes, with each golfer landing in 17th place. Rossouw added a round of 73 to her opening round of 79 to rise 19 places in the standings, tied for the largest gain from day one to day two. Butler also improved in day two, carding rounds of 77 and 75.

With strong performances from Knight, Rossouw, and Butler, Cleveland State rose to third place in the 12-team field. The Vikings shot a team score of 298 on day two and finished with a total of 607 for the tournament. Indianapolis earned the team title with a score of 589, while Butler ended the tournament in second with 598 strokes. Ohio State's Alexis Phadungmartvorakul earned medalist honors.

Sabrina Coffman tied for 28th in the tournament with two rounds of 77. Alex Jakins finished in 44th with scores of 80 and 79.

Competing individually, Olivia Swain finished the tournament tied in 49th place.

The Flyers Invitational was the Vikings final tournament of the fall, and Cleveland State will return to the course in the spring.
