Women's Golf Set to Compete at the Colonel Classic

RICHMOND, Kentucky - The Cleveland State women's golf team is set to compete in its second tournament of the season on Monday, March 29 and Tuesday, March 30 at the Colonel Classic. 

The Vikings will golf at the University Club at Arlington (par of 72 - 5,910 yards) and will play two rounds on Monday and one round on Tuesday. Shotgun start for Monday will be at 8:30 a.m., while Tuesday's start time is set for 9 a.m.

Cleveland State is one of 14 teams competing at the Colonel Classic: Akron, Ball State, Belmont, Butler, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Tennessee Tech, Western Michigan and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

In the Green and White's first tournament of the season, the women's team took sixth place at the Nevel Meade Collegiate on March 22 and March 23, moving up two spots in the final fay of action.

Junior Meg Rossouw had an impressive outing last week, jumping up 26 spots on the leaderboard on the final day of the tournament with a career-best 70 (-2) in the final 18 holes. Rossouw finished Tuesday with five birdies sitting in 13th place out of 71 total golfers. Overall, the junior shot +13 in the two-day tournament (79-80-70, 229).

Fellow Viking Kaylee Neumeister finished just one spot ahead of Rossouw in 12th place at the Nevel Meade Collegiate. The senior finished with an overall score of 228 (74-77-77, +12). Despite dropping two spots from Monday to Tuesday, Neumeister maintained the top spot for the Green and White in the team's opening tournament.
