Vikes Finish Day One in Eighth Place

PROSPECT, Kentucky - The Cleveland State women's golf team played 36 holes in the first day of the Nevel Meade Invitational, sitting in eighth place out of 11 teams.

"We did some good things on Monday," said head coach Taylor Riggs. "It was great to be back in a tournament setting and to learn more about each one of our players. We have a lot to learn and improve upon each time out and I look forward to getting better each day."

The Green and White shot 313 in both rounds on Monday, notching an overall score of 626 (+50). Cleveland State sits six strokes ahead of Bellarmine (+64) and only three strokes behind UIC (+47).

Kaylee Neumeister led the way for Cleveland State, shooting a team-best +5 (74-77-151) to sit in 10th place. The senior notched five birdies on the day, including back-to-back 14-hole birdies. 

Madison Butler ended the first day of the tournament tied for 21st with an overall score of 154 (75-78). 

Lexi Knight (T47) finished the day +11, while Ashley Knight wasn't too far behind ending day one tied for 51st place at +18.

Rounding it out for the Green and White was Olivia Swain in the 67th spot, shooting +27.

Cleveland State will wrap up the Nevel Meade Invitational on Tuesday playing 18 holes.
