Oosterhuis Closes Out Career at Cleveland State

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Vikings women's golfer Rayna Oosterhuis has decided to close her Cleveland State career, head coach Taylor Riggs announced today.

"Rayna was a big part of our season this past year that was unfortunately cut short," said Coach Taylor Riggs. "During her career, she was a part of a team that won our first women's golf Horizon League Championship, an accomplishment all of our players work towards daily. She embodied what it means to be a student-athlete and fulfilled her role daily to do what was best for our program."

Oosterhuis finished her season with a career-best 79.2 stroke average. The Edmonton, Alberta, Canada native posted a top-15 finish at the Dayton Flyer Invitational this past fall, with a 36-hole score of 153, which tied her for 13th overall.

"Her contributions that she made both on and off the golf course will be tough to replace in the future and she will absolutely be missed in our program," said Riggs.

Off the course, Oosterhuis has been an active member of SAAC and has served as the social events chair, as well as serving as one of the Horizon League's SAAC representatives.

"Her leadership has allowed SAAC to grow through out her time, and host many successful events for student-athletes including Fall Follies and VESPYs," said Danielle Cohea, Associate Athletics Director, Compliance. "We appreciate her commitment and dedication to CSU and the Viking family.  Her unwavering support of her fellow student-athletes will be greatly missed.  We wish her all the best in her next chapter."

At the Honors Luncheon last year, she earned the Konstantinos Family Scholarship, which is presented to the student-athlete who best reflects, and embodies, the virtues of former Cleveland State Director of Athletics, John Konstantinos, including leadership, integrity, perserverance, loyalty and humility.
