BURLINGTON, N.C.Madison Butler and Meg Rossouw each fired career-best rounds and Cleveland State broke the school record with a team score of 290 in the second round of day one of the Phoenix Invitational on Monday at the Alamance Country Club.

The Vikings combined team score of 290 topped the previous school record of 292 set at the Cardinal Classic in 2017.

"Really proud of the girls and how they battled in both rounds," said head coach Taylor Riggs. Tomorrow is another great opportunity to move up the board and improve our finish in the tournament."

Butler put together an outstanding second round as she posted four birdies on her way to a career-best round of three-under par 68. Butler, who had a 77 in the opening round, is tied for eighth place in the medalist standings with a 36-hole score of 145.
