YORKTOWN, Ind. – Junior Ashley Knight fired rounds of 74-80 to lead Cleveland State after the opening 36 holes of the Cardinal Classic on Monday at The Players Club.
Knight shot a two-over par 74 over her opening 18 holes of the tournament, which included a pair of birdies. She followed that with an 80 to finish with a 36-hole score of 154, which is good for a tie for 16th place in the individual standings.
Grace Zimmerman finished second among the Cleveland State players as she posted rounds of 80-79 and is tied for 38th place overall.
Led by Knight and Zimmerman, Cleveland State posted team rounds of 318-318 and is 10th overall in the team standings.
Madison Butler was third for the Vikings after carding rounds of 83-79. Butler, who had two birdies on the day, is currently tied for 45th overall.
Meg Rossouw and Averi Hanna rounded out the Cleveland State contingent. Rossouw posted rounds of 88-80 and is 57th, while Hanna fired an 81 and an 88 and is 58th overall. Hanna led the Vikings with four birdies over her opening 36 holes.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday (Sept. 17) with 18 holes over The Players Club with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
