CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday (March 24-25) when the Vikings compete at the Butler Spring Invitational.

The 36 hole event will be played at the par-72, 5,930-yard Prestwick C.C.

Last year's event was canceled due to inclement weather, while the Vikings placed fourth at the event two years ago.

CSU is coming off a strong showing at the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla., on March 10-11, finishing as the runner-up out of 11 teams. The Vikings were in first place after an opening round 326 and took two strokes off in the second round with a 324. However, Newberry College overtook the Vikings in the final round, winning the event by one shot with a final day 316.

Sophomore Allyson Hackman carded rounds of 80-78 (158) and tied for third place, her second top-10 finish this season. Hackman leads the team and ranks ninth in the Horizon League with a 79.5 scoring average.

Senior Shelly Ford is coming off a strong showing at the Benbow Invitational, tying for fifth place with rounds of 80-79 (159).  It was her first top-five finish of the season and helped her scoring average drop to 81.1, second best on the team.

Following the Butler Spring Invitational, CSU is out of action until April 4-5 when the Vikings compete in the Colonel Classic in Richmond, Ky.
