Dominique Butler has used her first three seasons to develop into one of the top all-around players in the league. The first Viking to earn Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year honors (2008), Butler uses her quickness and instincts on the defensive end to help CSU score easy points in transition. She has continued to improve her offensive game and will be counted on to carry an even larger role on that end of the court this season.

Career

• Is the only player in school history to earn Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year honors (2008).

• Needs to score 161 points to reach 1,000 points for her career.

• Ranks fifth in school history with 213 career steals.

• Has shot .454 (342-753) from the field for her career, the ninth best field goal percentage in school history.

• Is one of just eight players in program history to shoot at least .500 from the field for a season (2007-08).

2007-08 - Junior Season

• Started all 33 games at power forward, earning Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

• Named to Horizon League All-Defensive team for third straight season and is the only player in school-history to earn the honor more than one time in a career.

• Led the team and ranked eighth in the league in field goal percentage (.500).

• Led the team in rebounding (6.1), while ranking seventh in the league.

• Was 22nd in the conference in scoring (10.4), second in steals (2.58), 14th in offensive rebounds (1.88) and ninth in defensive rebounds (4.24).

• Voted to the Horizon League All-Tournament team after averaging 14.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in three CSU wins.

• Made 19-of-31 shots from the field in three league championship games.

• Recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds in league championship win over Wright State (3/14), playing a career-high 40 minutes.

• Scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds in league semifinal win at Green Bay (3/12).

• Had 13 points and seven rebounds against Butler in league quarterfinals (3/10).

• Scored a career-high 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting and added eight boards in a win at Youngstown State (2/ 23).

• Sank 8-of-15 shots for 16 points to lead CSU to a win over Milwaukee (2/7).

• Scored 20 points and had eight rebounds in a win over Wright State (1/19).

• Was 9-for-10 from the field for 21 points at Miami (OH) (12/1), as she missed her final shot from the floor with just under two minutes to play.

2006-07 - Sophomore Season

• Named to Horizon League All-Defensive team.

• Third on team in scoring (7.9) and second in rebounding (4.8) and blocks (14).

• Played in 26 games and made nine starts.

• Led the league in steals with 1.85 per game.

• Ranked 13th in the conference in rebounds (4.8) and blocked shots (0.59).

• Tallied 18 points and nine rebounds at Milwaukee (1/20) and amassed 17 points and nine boards at Loyola (1/6) to just miss double-doubles.

• Recorded a Horizon League season-best eight steals against Niagara (11/12).

• Notched three or more steals eight times and had multiple steals 12 times.

2005-06 - Freshman Season

• Named to both the Horizon League All-Newcomer and All-Defensive teams.

• Led the league and was 20th in the nation -- and tops among all freshman -- with 2.9 steals a game.

• Ranked among the league leaders in scoring (19th - 10.4), field goal percentage (6th - .484) and blocks (9th - 0.61).

• Knocked down 10-of-18 shots for 21 points in league tournament game at Loyola (2/28), adding eight rebounds, three assists and five steals.

• Had back-to-back double-doubles against Loyola (2/18) and Wright State (2/20), going for 14 points and 10 rebounds against the Ramblers and 11 points and a career-high 14 boards versus the Raiders.

• Made a league season-high eight steals against Youngstown State (2/13), adding eight points and seven rebounds.

• Scored all 11 of her points in final 6:42 to help Vikings stave off Detroit comeback bid (12/31).

• Knocked down 17-foot jumper with 34 seconds left to put Vikings ahead for good at Akron (11/25).

• Opened collegiate career with 14 points, three rebounds and two steals at Wisconsin (11/20).

High School

• Rated the 20th-best shooting guard in the country and the 149th-best player overall by All Star Girls Report.

• All-state selection as a senior.

• Averaged 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.5 steals for Madison HS.

• Led the team to three conference championships.

• Four-time all-conference selection.

• Three-time team MVP and four-year letterwinner.
