Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Opens Roadswing With 75-52 Victory At IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Cleveland State women's basketball team opened a three-game roadswing Wednesday, picking up a 75-52 victory at IUPUI. With the win, the Vikings are now 24-4 overall and 15-2 in Horizon League play.

Game Stats
-Jordana Reisma paced the Viking offense with 18 points on the game, while Mickayla Perdue added 17 and Faith Burch chipped in 11 points.
-Jordana Reisma grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds, while the Vikings held a 40-29 advantage on the boards.
-Cleveland State shot 50-percent from the field on the game, including a .688 clip during the third quarter.
-The Vikings notched 18 assists, including six from Colbi Maples and four from Shadiya Thomas.
-Cleveland State forced IUPUI into 18 turnovers, turning these miscues into 25 points.

Game Notes
-With 18 points and 12 rebounds, Jordana Reisma recorded her fourth double-double on the season.
-Faith Burch tallied her second straight double-digit game after posting 11 points at IUPUI.

The Game
After holding a 15-12 lead after the first 10 minutes of action, back-to-back baskets from Mickayla Perdue to open the second quarter extended Cleveland State's lead to 19-12, before a pair of Grace Ellis free throws put the Vikings up 21-12 less than two minutes into the frame.

The Vikings then extended their scoring run to begin the second quarter to 8-0 with a Jordana Reisma layup, putting the score at 23-12 with 7:43 left on the clock. Cleveland State then gained a double-digit lead at 27-16 following a 2-for-2 effort from Colbi Maples at the free throw line, while the Vikings held their sizable advantage throughout the rest of the frame, taking a 35-24 lead into the halftime break.

Cleveland State carried its momentum into the third quarter then, opening the frame on an 8-2 run, extending the lead to 43-26 following a pair of Sara Guerreiro free throws at the 7:28 mark. The two teams traded baskets over the next few possessions, until back-to-back jumpers from Faith Burch put the Vikings up 49-31 with just over three minutes left in the frame.

Carmen Villalobos knocked down a three-pointer on Cleveland State's next possession, giving the Vikings a 20-point lead at 52-32, before a 9-4 run to close out the quarter put the Vikings up 61-36 heading into the third quarter.

Cleveland State was then able to hold its lead throughout the final 10 minutes of play, coming away with the 75-52 victory.
