Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Set To Host Milwaukee For Cancer Awareness Day

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's basketball team will close out its current homestand on Saturday, February 17, hosting Milwaukee at 12:00 p.m. for its annual Cancer Awareness game. The Vikings enter the weekend with a 22-4 record on the year while standing at 13-2 in Horizon League play, while Milwaukee is currently 14-13 overall and 8-8 against league opponents.

Saturday's game will be a doubleheader with the Cleveland State men's basketball team, with both teams combining for a 6-0 record when playing at home on the same day this year. Tickets for Saturday's doubleheader are available by CLICKING HERE.

The first 200 fans at the women's basketball game against Milwaukee will get a limited edition Pink CSU Rally Towel. Fans will also be able to support Cleveland's Nakon Foundation by purchasing ribbons throughout the game to recognize and honor those who have been impacted by cancer.

So far this season, Cleveland State is undefeated at home, standing at 14-0, while the Vikings extended their current home win streak to 20 straight games dating back to last season following Thursday's 78-63 victory over Oakland.

The Vikings are currently on a four-game win streak and have won 11 of their last 12 contests, remaining at the top of the #HLWBB standings, with the Panthers tied for sixth  entering Saturday's contest.

Earlier this season Cleveland State earned a 64-59 victory at Milwaukee, while the Vikings have now won six straight against the Panthers.

Last time out, Mickayla Perdue paced the Viking offense with 27 points, recording her 12th 20-point performance of the season. For the year Perdue is averaging 17.2 points per game, ranking third among league players, while she is part of a CSU offense that is tops in the league averaging 75.7 points per game.

Through the first 26 games of the year, Cleveland State has recorded 70+ points 21 times, while also being one of the most efficient offensive teams in the league with a .466 clip from the field.

Jordana Reisma recorded her third double-double of the season against Oakland on Thursday, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Reisma also added a blocked shot on the game, moving into a tie for 10th place in the CSU Career Record Book with 72 blocks on her career. Among league players, Reisma currently ranks fourth averaging 1.1 blocked shots per game.

Defensively, the Vikings have held their opponents to a .385 field goal percentage so far this year, a mark that ranks second among Horizon League teams. In addition, Cleveland State also ranks second averaging 9.85 steals per game, while Carmen Villalobos leads the league individually with 59 total steals on the year.

In addition to Saturday's game being Cancer Awareness Day, the Vikings will also recognize legendary coach John McLendon for his impact on the game of basketball. McLendon, who is a two-time inductee into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, was hired by Cleveland State University in 1966 becoming the first African American head basketball coach at a predominately white institution.
