Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Falls At Detroit Mercy

DETROIT, Mich. - The Cleveland State women's basketball team came up short at Detroit Mercy on Saturday, dropping just their second Horizon League contest of the season in a 69-56 decision. The Vikings now stand at 18-4 overall this year and 9-2 in #HLWBB play.

Game Stats
-Mickayla Perdue paced the Viking offense with 24 points, while Colbi Maples added 15 points and Jordana Reisma chipped in 12.
-The Vikings tallied 11 assists on the day, including six from Colbi Maples.
-Cleveland State combined for four blocked shots on the game, two from Carmen Villalobos and one from Jordana Reisma and Colbi Maples.

Game Notes
-With 24 points against Detroit Mercy, Mickayla Perdue tallied her ninth 20-point game of the season.
-Jordana Reisma recorded double-digit points for the second straight game and third time out of the last four games with 12 points against the Titans.
-With 11 assists on the game, the Vikings tallied double-digit helpers for the 18th time this season.
-Saturday's game was the second of a three-game roadswing for the Vikings.

The Game
After trailing for the entire first half, the Vikings were able to work their way back into the contest throughout the third quarter, with Cleveland State trailing by just two at 49-47 heading into the final 10 minutes of action.

The Cleveland State defense was then able to post a pair of defensive stops on the first few Detroit Mercy possessions of the fourth quarter, while a pair of layups of Jordana Reisma and Colbi Maples gave the Vikings their first lead of the contest at 51-49 less than two minutes into the frame.

The Titans answered with a 5-0 run of their own, before a Carmen Villalobos three-pointer at the 6:42 mark knotted the score at 54-54. Detroit Mercy once again answered with a 5-1 run to regain the lead at 59-55 with just over three minutes left to play, while the Titans extended their scoring run to 15-2 over the final 6:25 of the contest to come away with the 69-56 victory.
