The Game
After trailing by two at the halftime break, the Vikings quickly swung the momentum into their favor over the opening minute of the third quarter, as back-to-back layups from Colbi Maples and Mickayla Perdue gave the Vikings a 36-34 advantage just 38 seconds into the frame. The Vikings were able to stretch their scoring run to six straight points after a pair of Jordana Reisma free throws before Oakland responded with a pair of baskets of their own to close the gap to 38-37, but a Reisma and-one play at the 6:47 mark put the Vikings back up four at 41-37.

Cleveland State continued to control play over the next few possessions, as a 7-0 run that ended with a Perdue three-pointer gave the Vikings their first double-digit lead of the game at 48-37 with 4:07 left on the clock. The Vikings then closed the frame on a 10-0 run, including another Perdue three-pointer as time expired to head into the final 10 minutes of action with a 58-43 advantage.

After a back-and-forth start to the fourth quarter, Perdue hit another pair of three-pointers to stop Oakland scoring runs, and hold the Viking lead at double-digits, including a 67-52 edge with just over seven minutes left to play.

A few minutes later, Cleveland State was able to tie its largest lead at 73-56 on a Reisma offensive rebound and put-back, and then the Vikings were able to hold a double-digit lead throughout the rest of the contest, coming away with the 77-65 victory.

Over the final 30-seconds the Vikings were able to hold their double-digit lead thanks to a 4-for-4 effort at the free throw line from Sara Guerreiro, who finished the game with a perfect 7-for-7 performance at the charity stripe.
