Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Falls At Green Bay, 85-72

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Cleveland State women's basketball team returned to Horizon League play Saturday, dropping an 85-72 contest at Green Bay. With the loss, the Vikings are now 11-3 on the season and 2-1 in #HLWBB play.

Game Stats
-Mickayla Perdue led the Viking offense with 23 points, while Colbi Maples added 19 and Carmen Villalobos chipped in nine points.
-Carmen Villalobos grabbed a team-best six rebounds, while Jordana Reisma finished with four boards.
-As a team, the Vikings recorded 16 assists, including seven from Colbi Maples.
-Cleveland State shot 42-percent from the floor on the game, including a .600 clip during the first quarter (9-for-15).

Game Notes
-With 23 points at Green Bay, Mickayla Perdue notched her fourth 20-point game of the year.
-The 16 assists marked the seventh straight double-digit assist game and 10th of the year.
-Colbi Maples tied her season-high with seven assists against the Phoenix - a mark that she has set four times this season.
-Saturday's game marked the fourth of a five-game roadswing for the Vikings.

The Game
After trailing by two at the halftime break at 46-44, the Vikings opened the third quarter with back-to-back baskets from Jordana Reisma and Colbi Maples, gaining a 48-46 lead less than one minute into the frame. The Phoenix responded with a pair of baskets on their next two possessions, before a Sara Guerreiro three-pointer at the 8:05 mark tied the contest at 51-51.

The two teams then traded baskets, until an 8-0 run for Green Bay put the Phoenix back on top at 62-53 midway through the quarter. Although a Reisma free throw stopped the Green Bay run, the Phoenix were able to gain a double-digit lead at 64-54 on their next trip down the floor, and finished the third quarter with a 68-57 advantage.

The Vikings were able to trim the lead back to single-digits at the 6:29 mark of the fourth quarter, as a Maples steal led to a Mickayla Perdue layup to put the score at 68-60.

Green Bay then regained a double-digit lead on its ensuing possession, and would go on to control play throughout the remainder of the frame.
