Leo Picks Up Third #HLWBB Player Of The Week Honor

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After helping Cleveland State to a pair of wins last weekend, junior Destiny Leo has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week for a league-leading third time this season. This marks the fifth time overall this season that the Vikings are earning Player of the Week accolades, which also marks a league-high. 

Last time out, Leo and the Vikings picked up a 107-65 victory at Detroit Mercy and a 72-51 win at Oakland, improving to 19-3 overall this year and 10-2 in #HLWBB play. In addition, Thursday's win over the Titans marked the 500th career head coaching win for Chris Kielsmeier, while Saturday's victory over the Grizzlies kept the Vikings in a tie for first place in the Horizon League standings. 

For the week, Leo averaged 27.0 points per game on a .625 field goal percentage (15-for-24), finishing with 31 points at Detroit Mercy and 23 points at Oakland – marking her league-leading eighth and ninth 20-point games of the year. In addition, Leo combined for three steals and three assists on the week. 

Against the Titans, Leo shot 10-for-13 from the floor, including a trio of three-pointers, while she was also 8-for-8 from the free throw line. The Willowick, Ohio native followed this up with a 12-for-12 performance from the free throw line at Oakland, and now leads the league and ranks fourth nationally with a .941 free throw percentage on the season (96-for-102).

With her 54 total points on the week, Leo moved into 18th place on the CSU Scoring List with 1,193 total points, while she is also tied for fourth with 180 career three-pointers.
