Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Announces 2022-23 Non-League Slate

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State women's basketball head coach Chris Kielsmeier announced the non-league schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 campaign Thursday, featuring an 11-game lineup throughout November and December.

2022-23 NON-LEAGUE SCHEDULE

The Vikings will open the 2022-23 campaign on the road on Monday, November 7, traveling to Iowa State – a perennial top-25 team. This will mark the third matchup between the two teams, and the first since the 2004-05 season.

Cleveland State will then return to the Wolstein Center for the 2022-23 home opener on Saturday, November 12, hosting Hofstra, marking just the second matchup between the two teams.

Next up for the Vikings will be a pair of road games at DePaul (November 15) and Niagara (November 19), with the contest against the Blue Demons marking the first meeting since 1992-93, and the contest against the Purple Eagles marking the first since the 2017-18 campaign.

Cleveland State will then close out the month of November by hosting its first-ever mid-season tournament, as CSU will welcome Georgia State (November 23), Bellarmine (November 25) and St. Bonaventure (November 26) to the Wolstein Center for the Hampton Inn Cleveland Downtown Viking Invitational. This will mark the first matchup against Georgia State and Bellarmine for the Vikings, while the meeting against the Bonnies will be the fourth matchup in program history.

The Vikings will then return to the road for a two-game roadswing at Central Michigan on Thursday, November 8 and Akron on Sunday, November 11. This will mark the seventh meeting between the Vikings and the Chippewas, while Cleveland State owns a 26-17 record against the Zips.

Cleveland State will close out its non-league slate with the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic, traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada to face Lindenwood (December 20) and Campbell (December 21) in the multi-team tournament. Both games will be first-time matchups for the Vikings.

Prior to the official start of the 2022-23 season, the Vikings will host their lone exhibition of the year on Tuesday, October 25, hosting Ursuline College.

The 2022-23 campaign marks the fifth season under head coach Chris Kielsmeier, with the Vikings owning a 19-10 record in non-league games during the first four seasons, including a program-record 11-game win streak during the 2019-20 campaign.
