Zieniewska & Ngwafang To Return For 2022-23 Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team announced Friday afternoon that Amele Ngwafang and Barbara Zieniewska would be returning for an additional year of eligibility during the 2022-23 campaign.

Last year, this duo helped the Vikings advance to the Horizon League Championship game for the first time in 12 years, while also guiding the Vikings to their second straight WBI Championship game appearance.

Ngwafang, who joined the Vikings prior to the 2021-22 season, led the team averaging 7.3 rebounds per contest, while also averaging 7.9 points per game. Ngwafang finished the year with 95 offensive rebounds – a mark that ranks her sixth in the CSU Single-Season Record Book.

Through the last 15 games of the season, Ngwafang recorded seven double-digit rebounding games, including four double-doubles.

Zieniewska was playing in her second season as part of the Cleveland State roster last year, averaging 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 points per game. On the season, Zieniewska grabbed 158 total rebounds, marking her second straight 100+ board season at Cleveland State.

Through her two seasons in the Green & White, Zieniewska has played in all 53 games and has appeared in the starting lineup during all but two contests.

Ngwafang and Zieniewska were both a major part of Cleveland State's rebounding efforts on the season, helping the Vikings to a +5.1 rebounding margin, which set a CSU Single-Season record.
