Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Earns 104-51 Victory Over Ohio Christian

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team returned to action Saturday, picking up a 104-51 victory over Ohio Christian to remain undefeated on the season.

Game Stats
· Five Vikings finished with double-figure points, led by Gabriella Smith with 23. Nadia Dumas added 17 points, while Brittni Moore and Raevyn Harris both tallied 13 and Deja Williams chipped in 12.
· As a team, the Vikings finished with 31 assists, including seven from Isabella Geraci and five from Gabriella Smith and Brittni Moore.
· Cleveland State shot 51-percent from the floor, including a .684 clip during the second quarter (13-for-19).
· The Vikings owned a 55-35 advantage in rebounds, including nine from Amele Ngwafang, eight from Barbara Zieniewska and seven each from Nadia Dumas, Isabella Geraci and Raevyn Harris.
· Cleveland State combined for 13 steals on the game, forcing Ohio Christian into 22 turnovers.

Game Notes
· Gabriella Smith, Deja Williams and Raevyn Harris all set CSU career-highs with their point totals Saturday, while Brittni Moore tied her career-best at CSU.
· Cleveland State's 31 assists tied the program record for assists in a single-game, a mark that the Vikings set during the 2019-20 campaign.
· Saturday marked the third time this season that Cleveland State has posted 10+ steals in a game.
· The .512 clip from the field marked a season-high for the Vikings.
· All nine players that saw action on Saturday recorded at least one point and one rebound on the game, while eight of the nine players posted at least one assist.
· Cleveland State's 104 points marked the first 100-point game of the season, and the 13th 100-point game in program history.
· Saturday's game marked the first meeting between the two teams.
· Including a pair of forfeit wins earlier this season, the Vikings are now 9-0 this season.

The Game
Midway through the first quarter the Vikings were able to jump out to an 11-2 lead following a trio of three-pointers from Barbara Zieniewska and Gabriella Smith, forcing an early Ohio Christian timeout. Cleveland State was able to hold this advantage throughout the remainder of the opening quarter then, closing out the first 10 minutes of play with a 21-15 lead after a Deja Williams three-pointer as time expired.

Ohio Christian was able to trim the lead to just two points over the opening minutes of the second quarter, but a 7-0 run from the Vikings that ended with a Brittni Moore three-pointer, regained a nine-point advantage for CSU, at 30-21 with just under seven minutes left on the clock.

Less than a minute later the Vikings were able to gain their first double-digit lead of the game, as back-to-back layups from Smith put Cleveland State up 35-23 with 5:03 left to play. Cleveland State then went on to close out the first half on a 16-5 run, taking a 20-point lead into the halftime break at 51-31.

Cleveland State extended its lead over the first part of the third quarter, posting an 11-0 run over the first 4:02 gaining a 62-31 lead on a Nadia Dumas layup. The Vikings then controlled play throughout the rest of the frame, taking an 83-41 lead into the final 10 minutes of action.

The Vikings were able to carry their momentum into the fourth quarter then, as they held a sizeable lead throughout the first part of the frame, before gaining a 95-49 lead following a trio of quick baskets from Amele Ngwafang and Smith. Cleveland State then eclipsed the 100-point mark with an Isabella Geraci three-pointer at the 1:41 mark, putting the score at 102-49 Cleveland State.

The Vikings then closed out the contest with a Raevyn Harris layup, coming away with the 104-51 victory.
