Zoeckler Promoted To Women’s Basketball Director of Operations

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State women's basketball head coach Chris Kielsmeier announced a change to his staff for the upcoming 2021-22 season, as Shelby Zoeckler has been promoted to Director of Operations.

"I'm thrilled to have Shelby staying on as part of our staff and moving into this new role," head coach Chris Kielsmeier said. "Shelby has been an integral part of our Cleveland State women's basketball family over the last five years, and you won't find anyone else who has more passion and love for Cleveland State University, the CSU athletic department, CSU women's basketball, and the city of Cleveland. She has been part of my staff from day one, and she has continued to prove herself over and over again in whatever role she is serving. Shelby is the definition of what we want a representative of our women's basketball program and the university to be, and I'm looking forward to seeing Shelby's growth as she moves into this new role."

As the director of operations, Zoeckler will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the team, travel arrangements, practice coordination, and equipment and apparel, while also serving as the program's liaison to various athletic and campus departments.

Zoeckler, who will be entering her sixth year as a part of the women's basketball staff, most recently spent the last three seasons as the video coordinator.

Throughout her time with the Vikings, Zoeckler has been involved with many aspects of the women's basketball program, from scouting, camps and clinics, film exchange, planning team activities, creating promotional graphics and videos, and administrative duties.

Last season, Zoeckler was part of a Cleveland State team that captured the 2021 WBI Championship – the first postseason title in program history – while she was also part of the Vikings' record-setting 11-game win streak during the 2019-20 season.

Zoeckler, a 2020 graduate of Cleveland State with a degree in health science, is currently pursuing her master's degree in exercise science at CSU.
