Vikings Wrap Up First Homestand Of 2020-21 Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team wrapped up its first homestand of the 2020-21 season Saturday afternoon, dropping a 64-46 contest against Wright State. The Vikings currently stand at 2-4 overall this season, with a matching record in Horizon League play.

Game Stats
· Mariah White led all Viking scorers with 19 points, while Nadia Dumas added eight points, Destiny Leo chipped in seven, and Isabella Geraci added six.
· Nadia Dumas grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds, while Barbara Zieniewska recorded six boards and Mariah White and Aminata Ly both grabbed five.
· Mariah White grabbed three steals on the game, with Taylah Levy recording two.

Game Notes
· After posting 19 points Saturday afternoon, Mariah White is now just six points shy of 1,000 for her career.
· Nadia Dumas recorded a career-high with her 13 rebounds Saturday, marking her first double-digit rebounding game of the season.
· Destiny Leo has now recorded at least one three-pointer in all but one game this season after converting one against the Raiders.

The Game
After getting off to a slow start, the Vikings rebounded during the second quarter, going on a 9-4 run during the middle of the frame to pull within 10 points at the 23-13 mark following five straight points from Destiny Leo.

Although the Raiders were able to regain control of the game over the next few possessions, a perfect 6-for-6 effort from Mariah White and Nadia Dumas at the free throw line brought the Vikings back within 10 points before Wright State closed out the frame with a 34-21 advantage.

The Raiders were then able to carry their momentum into the second half, extending their lead to 18 points during the opening minutes of the third quarter, and then went on to control play for the remainder of the game, coming away with the 64-46 victory.

Cleveland State will return to the road next weekend, traveling to Milwaukee for a two-game series on Friday, January 15 and Saturday, January 16.
