White Named #HLWBB Defensive Player of the Year; Miller & Crockett Named All-League

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Following the 2019-20 women's basketball regular season, the Horizon League announced its postseason honors Monday, with Cleveland State's Savanna Crockett, Mariah Miller and Mariah White all earning #HLWBB accolades. The 2020 #HLWBB Postseason honors are voted on by all 10 head coaches. 

White was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-League Second Team and All-Defensive Team, while Miller was named to the All-League First Team and Crockett earned All-League Third Team honors.

White was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year after averaging a league-best 3.1 steals per game, and helping the Vikings post a league-high 290 total takeaways on the season. White enters Tournament play ranked 10th nationally with 89 steals on the year, and sits 13th among Division I players with her 3.1 steals per game average.

So far this season, White has recorded at least one steal in all but two games, including 12 games that she has posted four or more takeaways. Earlier this year, White posted a career-high nine steals against Davis & Elkins, also marking a single-game high among league players this season.

White is also averaging 15.1 points, 3.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game, and has appeared in all 29 games for the Vikings this season. 

White is the fourth Viking to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors, and also the fourth Viking to be named to the All-Defensive Team multiple times.

MARIAH MILLER | G | SR | FIRST TEAM
Miller was named to the All-Horizon League First Team after leading the Cleveland State offense and finishing the regular season as one of the best offensive players in the league, averaging 16.9 points per game. Miller recorded double-digit points in all but four games this season, and posted nine 20-point performances.

Earlier this season, Miller recorded the 1,000th point of her career, and finished the regular season with 1,112 total points. 

Miller has also been one of Cleveland State's top rebounders, grabbing a team-high 218 total boards and averaging 7.5 rebounds per game. Miller currently ranks 15th in the CSU Career Record Book with 641 total boards, and ranks eighth with 445 defensive rebounds.

Entering Tournament play, Miller is one of just two league players to rank in the top-six in scoring (3rd) and rebounding (6th), and ranks second with seven double-doubles on the year.

Miller is the sixth Viking to earn more than one appearance on the All-League First Team during their career.

SAVANNA CROCKETT | F | SO | THIRD TEAM
Crockett earned a spot on the All-Horizon League Third Team after averaging 11.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game during the regular season. Crockett is one of just two league players to rank in the top-10 in all three categories, entering Tournament play ranked third in rebounding, fourth in blocks and 10th in scoring.

The Milwaukee, Wis. native had one of her best weekends in the final homestand of the regular season when she posted back-to-back 20-point games against Oakland and Detroit Mercy to earn #HLWBB Player of the Week honors. 

After setting a freshman class record with 46 blocks last year, and posting a team-high 26 blocks this season, Crockett is currently tied for ninth in the CSU Career Record Book with 72 total blocked shots.
