Crockett Named #HLWBB Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Cleveland State women's basketball team to a 2-0 weekend in their final regular season homestand, sophomore Savanna Crockett has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week. This marks the third weekly honor for the Vikings this season, and the first of the year for Crockett.

Crockett and the Vikings posted an 83-64 victory over Oakland last Friday, and followed that up with a 68-63 win over Detroit Mercy to improve to 19-8 overall this year and 9-7 in Horizon League play. The back-to-back wins put the Vikings in a tie for fifth place in the #HLWBB standings, and clinched a First Round home game in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament.

For the weekend, Crockett averaged a double-double, averaging 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game to lead the Vikings. Against Oakland she tallied 21 points and seven rebounds – marking her first 20-point game of the year – while she followed that up with a 23-point, 13-rebound performance against Detroit Mercy for her fourth double-double of the season.

Against UDM, Crockett recorded 15 of her points from the free throw line, as she was 15-for-21 from the charity stripe.

The Milwaukee, Wis. native also recorded four blocked shots on the weekend, moving into a tie for ninth place on the CSU Career Blocked Shots list with 72 career blocks.

Crockett came off the bench in both games, as she returned to the lineup after missing a trio of games.

For the season, Crockett is averaging 11.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per game, ranking in the top-10 among Horizon League players in all three categories.

Crockett and the Vikings will close out the regular season on the road next weekend, traveling to Green Bay (Thursday, February 27) and Milwaukee (Saturday, February 29).
