Miller Records Career-High 30 Points As Vikings Defeat LIU

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team picked up its second straight win Saturday evening, earning a 79-49 victory at LIU behind a career-high 30-point performance from Mariah Miller.

Game Stats
· Mariah Miller led the Viking offense with 30 points, while Mariah White added 18 points for the Vikings.
· As a team, the Vikings posted 41 rebounds, including 16 offensive boards.
· Isabella Geraci recorded a team-high seven rebounds, while Mariah Miller and Isabelle Gradwell both added six boards.
· The Vikings grabbed 18 steals against LIU, and forced the Sharks into 26 turnovers, turning the miscues into 27 points.
· Individually, JaMiya Braxton and Isabella Geraci both finished with four steals, while Mariah Miller and Julia Hintz both added three.

Game Notes
· Mariah Miller's 30 points marked a career-high for the senior, as she bettered her previous career-high of 26 that she set against Davis & Elkins last time out.
· Cleveland State has posted six or more blocked shots in all three of its games so far this season, while freshman Aminata Ly has tallied a team-high eight on the year.
· This marked just the second meeting between Cleveland State and LIU, and the first victory for the Vikings in the series.
· Cleveland State was opening up a three-game roadswing Saturday evening, which also includes stops at Hofstra (Monday, November 18) and St. Bonaventure (Saturday, November 23).

After getting on the board with a pair of Mariah Miller free throws over the opening minutes of the contest, Cleveland State was able to quickly gain a 9-0 advantage, and then controlled play for the remainder of the game.

The Vikings closed out the first period with a 17-8 lead, and then extended this advantage throughout the second 10 minutes of action, taking a 46-16 lead into the halftime break.

Out of the halftime break, Cleveland State went on an 11-3 run, including a trio of three-pointers from JaMiya Braxton, Mariah White and Miller, extending its lead to 57-19 just three minutes into the third period.

The Vikings then outscored LIU 14-8 over the second half of the third frame, taking a 71-27 lead into the fourth and final period.

Cleveland State was then able to hold its advantage throughout the final 10 minutes of play, coming away with the 79-49 victory to improve to 2-1 on the young season.
