CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team closed out its current two-game homestand on Sunday afternoon, as the Vikings dropped a 76-63 contest against Green Bay. With just two weeks left in the regular season, the Vikings now stand at 10-16 overall and 7-8 in Horizon League action.

The Game
Throughout the first part of the opening quarter the Vikings were able to stay close to the Phoenix, until a 12-0 run from Green Bay to end the frame put the Phoenix up 24-10 after 10 minutes of play.

Green Bay was then able to outscore the Vikings 22-15 during the second quarter, taking a 46-25 advantage into the halftime break.

Despite Green Bay holding a 20-point lead throughout the first part of the frame, the Vikings were able to trim the Green Bay lead over the final three minutes of the third quarter, as Cleveland State went on a 15-3 run over a span of 3:01 to come within nine points at 60-51. Green Bay responded with a basket as time expired, extending the lead back to double-digits at 62-51 heading into the final 10 minutes of action.

Cleveland State was able to quickly put the difference back at single-digits over the opening possessions of the fourth quarter, as a JaMiya Braxton layup put the score at 62-53 with 8:41 left to play. After Green Bay regained a double-digit lead on the next trip down the floor, the Vikings were able to battle their way back into the game with five straight points midway through the quarter, closing the gap to seven points at 68-61.

This run was spurred by a Braxton three-pointer – her third of the game – as she is now just nine three-pointers shy of tying a CSU freshman class record.

The Phoenix then held Cleveland State to just two points over the final 2:30, as they outscored the Vikings 8-2 to close out the game and come away with the 76-63 victory.
