White Named #HLWBB Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Cleveland State women's basketball team to a pair of wins last weekend, sophomore Mariah White has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week. This is the first weekly accolade of White's career, while it is the first time this season that the Vikings have earned Player of the Week honors.

Last week, White and the Vikings posted a perfect 2-0 homestand, picking up a 67-51 victory over Detroit Mercy and a 98-90 win over Oakland. With the two wins, the Vikings currently stand at 9-13 overall this season and 6-5 in #HLWBB play, with four weeks left in the regular season.

For the week, White averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game, leading the Vikings in all three categories.

Against Detroit Mercy, White finished with 17 points, a career-high seven assists and a career-high tying five steals, while she posted a career-high 29-point performance against Oakland, along with five assists and three steals.

White shot 67-percent from the floor throughout the two games combined, including a .722 clip against Oakland when she went 13-for-18 from the floor.

For the season, White is one of four Vikings to average double-digit points, averaging 13.2 points per game, while she leads the team averaging 3.7 assists per contest.

White and the Vikings will continue Horizon League play on the road this weekend, traveling to UIC (Friday, February 8) and IUPUI (Sunday, February 10).
