MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team wrapped up its annual roadswing through the state of Wisconsin Saturday afternoon, dropping a 59-53 contest at Milwaukee. The Vikings now stand at 6-11 overall this year and 3-3 in Horizon League action.

The Game
After getting off to a slow start during the first quarter, and trailing by 10 points at 23-13 after 10 minutes of play, the Vikings stormed back during the second period to gain a 36-33 advantage at the halftime break.
Cleveland State outscored Milwaukee 23-10 during the second period to earn the three-point lead, sparked by an 11-point first half performance from Mariah Miller.
Midway through the second quarter Cleveland State went on a 7-0 run over a 50-second span to close the gap to just three points, forcing a Milwaukee timeout, and then came within one point after a pair of Nadia Dumas free throws put the score at 28-27. Despite Milwaukee converting a layup on its next possession, the Vikings were able to string together seven straight points to gain their first lead of the game at 34-30.
The two teams then traded baskets throughout the final two minutes of the frame, heading into the halftime break with the Vikings leading 36-33.
Throughout the third quarter both teams continued to trade baskets, with five lead changes throughout the frame, as Milwaukee was able to go into the final 10 minutes of action with a three-point lead at 47-44.
Following a pair of three-pointers from Rachel Slaney and Isabelle Gradwell during the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, the Vikings were able to regain a slight advantage at 50-49, but this would be the final lead for the Vikings, as Milwaukee went on to outscore Cleveland State 10-3 over the final 5:21 to come away with the 59-53 victory.
