Butler Notches Career-High Night As Vikings Fall At Detroit

DETROIT, Mich. – Despite a career-high performance from senior Chrishna Butler, the Cleveland State women's basketball team came up short at Detroit Sunday afternoon, falling to Titans, 66-54. With the loss the Vikings are now 10-9 overall this season and 5-3 in Horizon League action.

Game Stats
· Chrishna Butler led the Viking offense with 17 points on a 5-for-6 effort from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 performance from the free throw line.
· Ashanti Abshaw finished with 14 points, while Olivia Voskuhl posted 10 points and Khayla Livingston added eight.
· Ashanti Abshaw and Khayla Livingston each recorded seven rebounds on the game.
· Khayla Livingston tallied four assists, while Ashanti Abshaw added three.
· Ashanti Abshaw and Khayla Livingston each recorded two steals.

Game Notes
· In just her second career start, Chrishna Butler recorded a career-high 17 points – including a trio of three-pointers.
· With her 14 points at Detroit, Ashanti Abshaw eclipsed the 850-point mark for her career, ending the game with 862 career points.
· Ashanti Abshaw recorded her 100th career steal on the game, finishing with two takeaways against the Titans.

The Game
After a back-and-forth first half, the Vikings went into the halftime break trailing by two points at 27-25. Detroit then came out on a 9-0 run to start the third quarter, extending its lead to 11 points at the 36-25 mark with just over five minutes left in the frame. A Chrishna Butler layup at the 5:36 mark put an end to the Titan run though, and after converting the and-one free throw, Butler brought the Vikings back within eight points at 36-28.

The two teams then traded baskets over the next few minutes, until an Olivia Voskuhl three-pointer put the score at 42-37 Detroit with just 57 seconds left in the frame. After a Butler three-pointer as time was expiring, Detroit went into the final 10 minutes of play with just a five-point lead at 47-42.

The Titans then opened the final quarter on an 11-5 run, extending their lead back to double-digits at 58-47 midway through the frame. Detroit was then able to control play throughout the remainder of the quarter, coming away with the 66-54 victory.
