Vikings Fall To Green Bay, 66-45

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Despite a hard-fought effort, the Cleveland State women's basketball team came up short against Horizon League opponent Green Bay Thursday evening, falling to the Phoenix 66-45. The Vikings are now 3-10 overall this season and 0-3 in league action.

Game Stats
· Ashanti Abshaw led all Viking scorers with 15 points, going 4-for-9 from the floor including a 3-for-5 effort from behind-the-arc.
· Khayla Livingston notched nine points for the Vikings, while Brooke Smith tallied eight.
· Ashanti Abshaw grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, while Alexis Eckles posted six boards and Olivia Voskuhl added four.
· Alexis Eckles notched five assists, while Brooke Smith tallied five steals.

Game Notes
· Mariana Bautista played in her first collegiate game – picking up one steal in eight minutes of action.
· As a team, Cleveland State tallied 12 steals, marking the 10th time this season that CSU has tallied double-digit steals.

The Game
During the first 20 minutes of play, Cleveland State was able to hang with the Phoenix, keeping the game within single digits until the final moments of the second quarter. After going into the halftime break trailing 30-17, Cleveland State was able to go on an 11-4 run over a span of 5:08 during the first part of the third frame, to bring the game back to single-digits at 38-29 with 3:12 left to play during the third quarter. The Phoenix then responded with an 11-0 run of their own, extending their lead back to double-digits at 49-29 with less than a minute left on the clock.

To open the fourth and final quarter Cleveland State posted an 8-2 run, including a pair of three-pointers from Brooke Smith and Adesuwa Aideyman, putting the score at 52-40 Green Bay with 6:43 left to play. The Phoenix were then able to outscore the Vikings 15-5 over the final six minutes of the contest, coming away with the 66-45 victory.
