Vikings Fall At Detroit, 82-68

DETROIT, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team continued Horizon League play on the road Monday evening, falling at Detroit, 82-68. The Vikings are now 3-9 overall this season and 0-2 in Horizon League play.

Game Stats
· Khayla Livingston led two Vikings in double-figures, posting 20 points on a 6-for-8 performance from behind-the-arc and a 2-for-2 effort from the free throw line.
· Olivia Voskuhl posted 12 points on a 6-for-12 effort from the field.
· Nicolete Newman finished with nine points and a team-high five assists.
· Ashanti Abshaw posted eight points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Game Notes
· Khayla Livingston eclipsed the 20 point mark for the third time this season, finishing right on the number against the Titans.
· Nicolete Newman recorded a season-high with her nine points and five assists, while she played a season-high 22 minutes at Detroit.

The Game
During the opening frame, both teams battled back and forth, with five lead changes and three tied scores, as Detroit finished the first 10 minutes of play with a slight lead at 17-15.

The teams then continued to battle throughout the first few minutes of the second quarter, with Cleveland State posting a 10-2 run over a span of 3:48 to gain a 34-31 advantage during the middle of the second frame. This lead came following baskets from Olivia Voskuhl, Nicolete Newman and Khayla Livingston. The two teams then traded baskets once again over the final minutes of the frame, with Detroit going into the halftime break up by three points at 39-36.

The Titans then opened up the second half on a 13-3 run, extending their lead to double-digits at the 52-39 mark with 4:36 left to play in the third quarter. Over the final four minutes of the third frame, Detroit outscored Cleveland State 10-4 to gain a 62-45 lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play.

Detroit was able to hold a sizeable lead over the final quarter then, with the Titans coming away with the 82-68 victory.
