Voskuhl Notches Career-High As Vikings Defeat FIU

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Behind a career-high 18 points from Olivia Voskuhl the Cleveland State women's basketball team got back on the winning track Tuesday morning, as the Vikings picked up a 64-57 victory over FIU. Cleveland State now stands at 3-5 on the season.

Game Stats
· Olivia Voskuhl led three Vikings in double-figure scoring – posting a career-high 18 points on a 5-for-9 performance from the field (including a 3-for-4 effort from three-point).
· Ashanti Abshaw was just shy of double-double once again, posting 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
· Adesuwa Aideyman was the third Viking in double-digits, finishing with 14 points.
· Brooke Smith had a full stat line, posting nine points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

The Game
After trailing by 11 points at 23-12 at the 8:29 mark of the second quarter, Cleveland State responded with a 15-2 run over a span of 4:34 – regaining a two-point lead at 27-25 with 3:26 left to play in the first half. During this stretch, CSU got points from Adesuwa Aideyman (5 pts), Ashanti Abshaw (4), Allison Mitchell (2), Brooke Smith (2), and Khayla Livingston (2).

The two teams then went into the halftime break with the score tied at 27-27.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the third frame then, including four lead changes, with the Vikings going into the final 10 minutes up by one point at 39-38.

Cleveland State was able to jump out to an eight-point lead just 1:22 into the fourth quarter, following a 7-0 run to begin the frame. The Vikings were then able to extend their lead to nine points following an Abshaw free throw at the 6:53 mark, and went on to hold the advantage for the remainder of the contest. After a three-pointer from Smith at the 2:41 mark Cleveland State was able to gain a double-digit lead at 58-47 and the Vikings then closed out the contest with a pair of free throws from Aideyman for the seven-point victory.
