Green Scores Career-High As Vikings Fall At Detroit

DETROIT, Mich. - Despite a career-high 25 points from Kiersten Green, the Cleveland State women's basketball team fell at Detroit Thursday evening, dropping a 96-77 contest to the Titans. Cleveland State is now 10-9 overall this season and 2-4 in Horizon League play, while Detroit improves to 11-7 (4-2).

Shalonda Winton added 24 points for the Vikings, marking her 11th 20-point game of the season, while Cori Coleman chipped in 19 points.

The Vikings got off to a strong start, holding a lead throughout the first eight minutes of the contest, including a six-point advantage (14-8) off an Imani Gordon Layup at the 13:38 mark. Beginning at the 12:24 mark, Detroit responded with a 10-0 run to regain the lead which they would hold for the remainder of the contest. The Titans closed out the final four minutes of the first half on a 15-4 run, going into halftime with a 15-point advantage at 45-30.

The Titans were able to hold a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half, including a 21-point advantage - their largest of the game - with just seconds remaining.

Thursday's contest marked the seventh time this season that CSU has reached the 70-point mark, while the Vikings also outrebounded Detroit, 41-39. Included in CSU's 41 rebounds was 20 offensive boards - the second time this season that the Vikings have reached 20 offensive rebounds.

Cleveland State will continue its roadswing on Saturday, facing Valparaiso at 2:35 p.m. EST.
