BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - With three players scoring in double-figures and a commanding defense, the Cleveland State women's basketball team defeated the Indiana Hoosiers Sunday, 69-58. CSU's victory, which was the first road win of the season, snapped Indiana's six-game win streak and marked the second all-time victory against the Hoosiers. The Vikings are now 3-4 on the season, while Indiana is now 6-2.

For the fifth straight game CSU had three players score in double-figures, led by Winton who notched her sixth 20-point game of the season with 23 against the Hoosiers. Kiersten Green, who has tallied double-figures in the past four games, notched a career-high 15 Sunday afternoon, on a 5-for-11 performance from the field. Cori Coleman was the final Viking to score in double-digits, recording 13, including a trio of three-pointers.

For the first time this season Cleveland State led during the entire first half, including a 12-point advantage at the 2:33 mark. The Hoosiers were able to tie the contest twice during the opening 20 minutes, but each time CSU responded with a basket of its own to regain control of the game.

The Vikings opened the second half with a 10-point lead, and were able to hold a double-digit advantage over the first 3:12 of the frame. Over the next three minutes Indiana went on a 9-4 run, closing the contest to six points (46-40), forcing a Cleveland State timeout. The Vikings responded with a 6-3 run out of the timeout, including four points from Winton and two from Coleman, gaining a nine-point lead at 52-43 with 10:32 left to play.

The Hoosiers were able to come within three points three times over the final five minutes, but that would be as close as they could get as CSU answered with a Green jumper and a pair of three-pointers from Haley Schmitt and Winton each time.

Over the final 1:35 Cleveland State went on a 9-1 run, including a 4-for-4 performance from Green at the free throw line, to earn the 69-58 victory. The Vikings now enter the fifth week of the season on a two-game win streak, and one win shy of reaching the .500 mark on the year.

Winton, who was just shy of marking her sixth double-double of the season, notched a career-high nine assists, with eight coming during the first half. Imani Gordon had a team-high eight rebounds along with six points, while Green added six rebounds and tied her career-best with five steals.

For the first time since the 2009-10 season, the Vikings had less than 10 turnovers, committing just nine against Indiana. As a team, Cleveland State posted 13 assists and nine steals, while forcing 16 Indiana turnovers. The Vikings shot .491 from the field (26-for-53), including a 51-percent (16-for-31) performance during the first half.

Next up for the Vikings will be a home contest against Miami (OH) on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2:00 p.m. The Miami contest will mark the first of five home games in a six-game stretch for the Vikings.
