Vikings Sign Four Area Wrestlers

The Cleveland State wrestling squad bolstered its lineup for next season by signing four area wrestlers. John Bedford, Ryan Fogliano, Chris Kallai and Matt Shultz have made commitments to attend CSU next fall.

With holes in the middle of the lineup, Head Coach Jack Effner is excited about his recruits. "We had a soft spot in the middle weight classes, and now we have the state champ and runner-up at 152 pounds," commented Effner.

Bedford attended Woodmore High School and hails from Woodville, Ohio. He finished third in the state at 119 pounds in Division III. Bedford compiled over 150 career wins and went 52-1 his senior year. He also placed in the junior nationals, making him a high school All-American.

Fogliano, a product of Maple Heights High School, was last year's 152-pound runner-up in the Ohio State Championships. He went 86-15 for his career and finished 38-5 as a senior.

Kallai is the 152-pound Ohio state champ from Wadsworth High School. He went 42-3 as a senior and will look to contend for the 157-pound job next season.

Shultz, from North Ridgeville High School, was fifth in the state in Division II last year. The 130-pounder was sixth in the state two years ago as well.
