YPSILANTI, Mich. - Cleveland State's wrestling team fell to 1-1 on the year after dropping a 38-3 decision at Eastern Michigan on Friday (Dec. 3).

The biggest highlight of the night for the Vikings was Josh Palivoda defeating Mike LeHolm, 7-4, in the 141 class. Palivoda began the match scoring first on a takedown in round one and built a 7-2 lead early in the third period to guarantee the victory.

While Palivoda had the lone win for CSU, several other Vikings engaged in close battles with the Eagles. Robbie Michaels took a 4-4 tie into the final round before losing, 6-4, on a late takedown. Chris Weber also had a very close match, falling 2-1 in the heavyweight division. Lawrence Cavello also kept his bout close, but fell 6-2.

"We had some close matches," head coach Ben Stehura said. "Several of our guys wrestled very well, but it just didn't end up showing in the final score."

The Vikings will stay on the road this weekend, competing against Northwestern in a dual meet tomorrow (Dec. 4). That contest is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. CST.
