CLEVELAND - Cleveland State opened up with a 17-0 lead over Bloomsburg University in Eastern Wrestling League action Sunday afternoon at Woodling Gymnasium and the Vikings coasted to a 35-7 win over the Huskies.

Fellow senior Phil Mansueto (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown), ranked #13 at 133, followed with a win by forfeit while junior Paul Theodore (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) won convincingly by beating Mark Piermattei 5-1 at 141.

Junior Anthony Coleman (Bellevue, Ohio/Bellevue), who moved into the rankings earlier this week for the first time this year at #20, was very patient and struck late in the match to record a 6-2decision over Brad Forbes at 149 to give CSU a 17-0 advantage.

At 157, true freshman Josh Ging (Mantua, Ohio/Kenston) fought hard but was not successful as he lost to George Carter 15-7, giving Bloomsburg its first points of the match.

However, the Huskies fell behind 20-4 after Jason Effner (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield) picked up a win by defeating Ryan Garner 8-3. At 174, Ron Howard (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown) wrestled well but was unable to overcome Hunter Guenot and lost by a score of 5-2.

At 189, #4 Gerald Harris (Tulsa, Okla./East Central) put on a show as he repeatedly took down Chad Hoare and recorded a technical fall. For Harris, it was his 108th career victory and puts him just four wins away from the school record of 112 set by Toby Matney from 1976-79 at 158 and 167 pounds.

Junior heavyweightRuss Davie Perrysburg,OH/Perrysburg) finished the match with a thrilling pin of Bloomsburg's Tony Milone in the first period.

With four dual matches to go, the Vikes are assured of a winning season as they moved to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in EWL action.
