At 184 pounds, fourth-ranked senior Gerald Harris (Tulsa, Okla./East Central) scored a 6-3 decision over Mike Croyle, while junior Stipe Miocic (Willowick, Ohio/Eastlake North) earned a 7-4 decision over Joshua Birt at 197 pounds. In the heavyweight match, junior Russ Davie (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) scored a major decision win over Robert Kail by a score of 9-1.
With senior Rocco Mansueto (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) out for the match, Pittsburgh earned a fall in the 125-pound match to jump ahead 19-10. Senior Phil Mansueto (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) quickly responded, however, picking up a 20-6 major decision at 133 against Mike Ciotti.
Despite the solid efforts, the Panthers clinched the win with a 14-6 major decision victory at 141 pounds.
Junior Anthony Coleman (Bellevue, Ohio/Bellevue) added three points to the final tally in the last match of the night, posting a 2-1 touchback victory over Justin Giovinco at 149 pounds.
