Scouting Ryan Riggs

Riggs was born to be a wrestler. The son of a high school wrestling coach, he is well-conditioned and fundamentally sound. Much more will be expected out of Riggs in his final year as a Viking, and he has all the tools to succeed.

2006-07 - Junior Season

Notched 11 victories as starter at 125 pounds, which included 10 by decision and one pin...Came back to place fifth at EWL Championships after losing first two matches...Went 4-2 in EWL matches during regular season...gave team the lead against WVU in dual meet action with 5-1 win, one of only two Vikings to win matches in that competition (2/19).

2005-06 - Sophomore Season

Recorded a 4-4 record in open competition...pinned King College's Brandon Marthinsen at the Ashland Open (11/19)...also scored two double-digit decisions at the Ashland Open.

2004-05 - Freshman Season

Went 6-6 competing only in open competition.

2003-04 - Redshirt Season

Redshirted in order to maintain four years of eligibility.

High School

Finished second in the Beast of the East tournament as a senior, along with being a three-time state championship qualifier...also earned double All-American honors at the Cadet Nationals in Fargo, N.D.

Born May 25, 1984 in Akron...son of Amanda Daugherty and Dave Riggs...has two sisters and a brother...art major.
