Scouting David Gilkey
Gilkey enters his fifth year at CSU and provides the squad with veteran leadership as its only senior. He is among the team's hardest workers in the weight room and, after wrestling in several different weight classes in the past, will be looked upon to score points at 184 pounds.
2005-06 - Junior Season
Went 9-13, competing all season at 174 pounds...pinned Findlay's Richard Goss at the Ashland Open on (11/19)...scored a pin over Sean Smith of the Marines at the Penn State Open (12/4)...scored in double figures in five of his seven decisions.
2004-05 - Sophomore Season
Recorded three pins and a major decision among his eight wins...pinned Bryan Harney of Michigan State in 37 seconds...recorded a 39-second fall against Joe Uker of Iowa at the Midlands.
2003-04 - Redshirt Season
Redshirted to maintain three more years of eligibility.
2002-03 Freshman Season
Wrestled in 19 matches, finishing with a 6-13 mark...four of his six victories were pins, most notably over nationally-ranked Jake O'Hearn of Alfred State in 1:43.
High School
Earned All-America and all-state honors in 2002, finishing eighth in the nation...also earned all-conference and all-city honors as a senior...finished his senior season with a 30-5 mark with 25 pins...was named team captain and MVP as a senior...also helped team to a first-place conference finish...earned four letters in wrestling and one in football.
