Cleveland State Wrestling Announces 2024 Recruiting Class

Cleveland, OH-The Cleveland State wrestling program will welcome ten incoming student-athletes to the program for the 2024-25 season. This class features nine student-athletes from the State of Ohio who have experienced success at the state level throughout their high school careers. 

"We are excited to welcome this incredible group of young men to our program," said head coach Josh Moore. "Each of them will bring something unique to Cleveland State while fitting our culture and commitment to academics, athletics, and serving the community." 

This incoming class will look to build upon the momentum established this past season, which saw the Vikings finish 6-3 in MAC dual meets for a second-place finish in the MAC East Division. Cleveland State finished the year with one individual champion and two NCAA National Qualifiers. 

 

Cleveland State Wrestling 2024 Recruiting Class

Reese Stephen (Barnesville HS/ Barnesville, OH)
Projected 157 lbs.

  • Two Time Ohio State Champion and three-time State Placer
  • 178 career victories
  • Also lettered in baseball where he earned first-team all-conference recognition
  • Finished with a 3.9 GPA
  • Intends to major in Engineering Technology

Why Cleveland State? "I like the environment, wrestling coaches and teammates. Felt it was the best fit for me."

 

Brady Quillin (Olentangy Liberty HS/Dublin, OH)
Projected 197 lbs.

  • Two-time Ohio State placer
  • Finished with a 4.17 GPA
  • Intends to major in Finance

Why Cleveland State? "I chose Cleveland State due to its unique campus which I like. The internship opportunities and career connections you can create in a major city like Cleveland are exciting things. I also think that the culture the coaches have created there is amazing and I'm looking forward to working with them and my teammates."

 

Xander Myers (Liberty Center HS/Napoleon, OH)
Projected 184 lbs.

  • Ohio State Champion
  • Two-time Ohio State finalist and three-time State Placer
  • 163 career victories
  • Finished with a 4.0 GPA and was recently named Valedictorian of his class
  • Intends to major in Business with intent to pursue a law degree

Why Cleveland State? "Cleveland State is exactly what I was looking for both academically and athletically. It is relatively close to home and has excellent programs in my intended areas of study, and I'm excited to be a part of the CSU wrestling team."

Tyler Deericks (Olentangy Liberty HS/ Dublin, OH)}
Projected 157/165 lbs.

  • Ohio State Finalist
  • Finished with a 3.56 GPA
  • Intends to major in Pre-Physical Therapy

Why Cleveland State? "Because of the location and most of my family lives near there, the academics are top-notch, and I liked the coaches. I am looking forward to being a part of the CSU wrestling team."

Steven Duffy (Woodridge HS/Cuyahoga Falls, OH) 
Projected 184/197 lbs.

  • Ohio State Finalist 
  • Three-time Ohio State Placer
  • Also lettered in cross country where he was a three-time State Qualifier
  • 148 career victories
  • Finished with a 4.6 GPA
  • Intends to major in Biomedical Engineering

Why Cleveland State? "Cleveland State has an amazing campus, especially its new buildings with state-of-the-art facilities. I believe CSU will help me fulfil my dream of becoming a doctor. Their wrestling team has a great reputation for being hard-working and striving to be their best. I'm certain that these factors will push me to be the best student and athlete I can be."

Parker Pikor (Lake Catholic HS/Rome, OH)

  • Intends to major in Construction Management

Why Cleveland State? "I chose Cleveland State because of the depth of both the academic and athletic opportunities. It's close to home but will give me the full college experience."
