Cleveland State Wrestling Upends Lock Haven on the Road, 22-19

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Cleveland State (6-7, 3-3) fought for a hard-earned 22-19 victory over Lock Haven (6-11, 3-4) on Friday night.

The Bald Eagles took the early 3-0 lead as Ben Aranda fell to No. 21 Anthony Noto, 4-2, at 125-pounds. The Vikings quickly answered as Nick Molchak pinned No. 32 Gable Strickland in 2:02 to take a 6-3 advantage.

Lock Haven responded with a major decision at 141-pounds and a technical fall at 149-pounds, reclaiming a 12-6 lead.

Marcus Robinson secured an 8-2 decision at 157-pounds and a sudden victory takedown by Tate Geiser at 165-pounds evened the match at 12-12.

The Bald Eagles claimed the 174-pound match by a 1-0 decision and a major decision at 184-pounds put the home team ahead, 19-12.

No. 31 Ben Smith started the final comeback with a 15-3 major decision at 197-pounds, as the Green and White now trailed 19-16. With the match on the line, No. 21 Daniel Bucknavich pinned his opponent in 6:15 to give Cleveland State the 22-19 road victory.

The Vikings get back on the mat tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Bloomsburg.
