Cleveland State came in third in the NWCA's annual Top-30 Scholar All-American team standings – the highest ranking in recent history – after posting a 3.5331 team GPA at the time of nomination. The Vikings were the highest of nine MAC teams to be ranked in the top-30, while they were also the highest of four Ohio teams to be featured.

During the most recent Spring 2021 semester, 20 Vikings posted a 3.00+ GPA, while six Vikings were named to the Cleveland State University Dean's List for having a 3.25+ GPA on at least 12 graded credit hours.

Individually, DeAndre Nassar and Riley Smucker were named NWCA Scholar All-Americans, marking the second time out of the last three years that Cleveland State has had multiple student-athletes earn Scholar All-American status.

Smucker, who earned a spot on the Cleveland State University President's List during both semesters this year, finished the 2020-21 campaign with a 3.76 GPA studying health sciences.

Nassar currently owns a 3.65 GPA pursuing a degree in criminology, and was named to the Cleveland State University Dean's List during both the fall and spring semesters.

Last month, Smucker and Nassar were two of nine Vikings to be named to the MAC All-Academic Team.
