Smith’s Run At NCAA Championships Comes To A Close

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Cleveland State wrestling team closed out its run at the 2021 NCAA Championships Friday, as Ben Smith dropped a second round consolation match in the 197 pound bracket.

Smith, who was wrestling as the No. 24 seed at 197 pounds, finished the tournament with a 1-2 record.

In his consolation second round match, Smith went up against No. 10 Cameron Caffey of Michigan State, with Caffey earning a fall at the 5:00 mark.

Yesterday, Smith advanced to the second round of the consolation bracket after picking up a 12-4 major decision over Oregon State's J.J. Dixon in his first consolation match of the tournament.
