CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University wrestling team returns home for the first time in over a month this weekend as it opens the home portion of its Eastern Wrestling League slate.

CSU welcomes Bloomsburg this Sunday, Jan. 27, at 1:00 p.m.

A youth dual featuring squads from Lake Catholic and Stow will take place in advance of CSU's dual and begin at 11:00 a.m. Tickets will be required for the youth dual with one ticket permitting entrance to both the youth dual and CSU's dual. Tickets will be available for purchase on site with cash only and will begin at 9:30 a.m. Ticket prices will remain the same as they are for all home CSU duals ($7 for adults and $5 for youths under 12).

The Vikings held the lead over host Edinboro at the halfway point, but dropped a 24-13 dual to the Fighting Scots in CSU's lone action last week.

Armando Torres (133 pounds), Brady Barnett (149) and Nico O'Dor (157) each notched wins against Edinboro. Barnett won via pin while Torres did so via major decision.

Torres continues to lead the team in wins (25), dual wins (7) and bonus-point wins (13). Barnett improved to 14-7 with the win and is now tied for the team lead with six pins. O'Dor registered his 20th win of the season against Edinboro with a comfortable 6-1 decision.

Bloomsburg lost its first four duals of the season but has won two of three since the turn of the calendar year. The Huskies knocked off Hofstra before squeaking past Edinboro by two points. Bloomsburg dropped a 22-15 decision at Clarion in its last action Jan. 13. Redshirt junior Trevor Allard leads the team with 16 wins, all at 184 pounds, and also tops the team with six bonus-point victories.

Bloomsburg holds a 25-12-3 advantage in the all-time series between the teams that dates back to the late 1970s. The Vikings had a three-dual winning streak stopped last season with a 23-15 setback in Pennsylvania. CSU has won the past two matchups at home in the series—winning via shutout, 41-0, in the 2015 meeting and rallying from an early 9-0 deficit to claim a 26-23 victory in 2017.

Three Vikings, not including those redshirting this season, own dual wins over Bloomsburg in their careers—Ryan Ford, Collin Kelly and John Vaughn.

Cleveland State will remain at home next Friday, Feb. 1, as it takes a step out of EWL action to host Kent State.
